Comprehensive Design

A full transformation of your outdoor space, guided from start to finish. This service covers every stage of the process — from the initial consultation and brief, through concept and detailed design, construction drawings, and planting plans, to tendering, build, planting, and ongoing aftercare.

The Process

Initial Telephone or Email Inquiry

A brief conversation to discuss your project and arrange a free initial consultation.

Free Initial Consultation

An in-person meeting to talk through your project brief and answer any questions about the design process. Following this meeting, you will receive an email confirming the brief along with a clear breakdown of design costs and project stages.

Site Survey and Site Analysis

A professional surveyor will measure your garden, noting drainage, level changes, and existing features. Separately, the garden designer will visit to take detailed measurements, photographs, and notes on plants and elements to retain, while sensing the atmosphere of your space. This combined information shapes the foundation of the masterplan.

Concept Design and Additional Visuals (If Required)

A plan drawing outlining the proposed locations of hard and soft landscaping and any additional features. One complimentary revision is included. Visuals can also be provided to help you better imagine the finished garden.

Masterplan

After reviewing your feedback on the concept design, a final masterplan is created and agreed upon.

Detailed Design – Construction Drawings and Planting Plans

At this stage, all design details are finalised, including materials and plant selections. Detailed construction drawings for hard landscaping, planting plans for soft landscaping, setting out drawings, specifications, scope of works and bill of quanities are prepared.

Tender

Typically, three landscaping contractors are invited to submit tenders to build your garden. All contractors will be either members of BALI or APL.

The Build

Depending on the project’s size and complexity, regular site visits will be made to monitor progress, especially at key stages of construction.

Planting

Once hard landscaping is complete and planting areas prepared, the plants will be sourced and delivered under careful supervision. Plants will be set out on site before being planted by the landscapers. Follow-up visits ensure everything is thriving and you are happy with the result.

Aftercare

A comprehensive aftercare plan covering both hard and soft elements of your garden will be provided to support its growth and health. Future visits will be arranged as needed to offer advice and monitor your garden’s development over time.
